Volunteering
Volunteering as a Trustee
We are looking for new trustees to join us. This is an opportunity to contribute to the community and is so worthwhile.
We are now recruiting for our Summer Scheme See More
We are supported by 7 volunteers. Some work with trained staff in our activities.
Volunteering has proved a great benefit for young people who wish to have a career in any of the caring professions or on vocational courses. It provides an insight into the world of work and is a great benefit on a CV. Some of our young volunteers go to university and come back each year to work in the Summer Schemes. Other have progressed from volunteering to become staff members.
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Volunteering at Melton Mencap can qualify for the service section of the award. Having some practical experience on a CV is helpful for careers where there is working with the public as well as the caring professions.
Volunteers are one of the great assets of Melton Mencap. It has been estimated that the work of volunteers contributes a value of £10,000 per year. As well is working directly with service users, a considerable amount of decorating and maintenance work has been carried out.
We welcome volunteers to take part in any of these roles.
